A LESSON IN PERSEVERANCE
Susanna and I both have proud family heritages. Amongst our parents and grandparents over the past 50 years the superlatives are inspiring: Built one of the most successful family-owned farms in Alabama, recognized for distinguished work in pharmacy, served as a United States Marine Corps Drill Instructor and Commandant in the Marine Corps League, recognized by Marriott Hotels, Inc. as a world leader in facility management...all of this despite two patriarchs raised in orphanages, multiple single-parent families, and three lives lost far too early to Cancer.
Families often encounter challenges, delays, and loss that can set back an entire generation. These events may be completely out of the control of anyone in the family. This has led us to a multi-generational vision for our family, making decisions that love the individual today, but build toward the success of not only our children, but their future children and eventual grandchildren. This perspective has been very liberating when dealing with an extended illness, unforeseen season of life, or even great personal loss.
